In ahorn there were digital lessons long before corona

The municipality of ahorn had the right scent: because it invested in digitalization for schools – long before the corona pandemic forced this across the board. For about 35,000 euros, the classrooms of the johann-gemmer elementary school were equipped in 2018, 2019 and 2020 in such a way that, in close consultation with the teaching staff, the basis for modern teaching was created. This has already proved to be the case in times of corona, says a press release from the municipality. Through the "special budget loan rate" program school loan devices (tablets) could also be purchased to enable schoolchildren without access to a suitable device to take part in digital lessons at home. Because the demand program was increased, additional tablets could be ordered.

For example, the 2019/2020 school year already began with good digital equipment. And with the general renovation, the johann-gemmer elementary school is getting a modern WLAN structure. As part of the revitalization of the schusterbau, a fiber optic connection is to be installed directly in the school even before the general renovation is complete. For this investment and well thought-out preparation for digital teaching, the community of ahorn has now been awarded a prize by the bavarian state minister for education and culture, prof. Michael piazolo, and secretary of state anna stolz with the certificate "digital education region in bavaria 2019 has been awarded. The certificate has now been sent by district administrator sebastian straubel, as an official transfer date could not take place due to corona.
