For 40 years, the volkach mainschleifenkurier has been the appropriate medium for informing readers about the region’s past and cultural events. Even then, editor klaus hart had the idea of compiling the most interesting articles in a coffee-table book "to bring home a little closer," as he put it.
Due to its success, the first volume covering the years 1978 to 1992 was followed by a second book covering the years 1993 to 2007. Now, finally, the third book has been presented – with articles from the booklets of the years 2008 to 2017. Volkach’s mayor, peter kornell, dedicated a foreword to the editor, herbert meyer, and the editors, klaus and tatjana hart, in the book and expressed his highest appreciation.
At the festive evening in the hall of the museum barockscheune, the mayor emphasized that the cooperation between honorary "hobby researchers" and the professional historical support of the city archivist ute feuerbach had worked excellently here. In a laudatory speech for the hart family and herbert meyer, board member bernhard weber discussed, among other things, the often stressful and time-consuming work the honorees had to do in creating the respective mainschleife couriers. "46 authors had written 244 articles, which first had to be processed editorially and in terms of printing technology."
Ute feuerbach made the biggest wish this evening: she wants to present the illustrated book at the frankfurt book fair for the "most beautiful non-fiction book of the year" competition and hopes to receive an award.
Sale: the books can be purchased in the museum barockscheune or through the tourist information of the city of volkach (price: 17,90 euro).
